Richard qualified at Guy’s Dental school in 1993, and remained on the staff there for eighteen months post graduate. He developed strong interest in dental implantology early on and was lucky to attend the Brånemark Institute in Gothenburg, Sweden, culminating in him being the first in the UK to perform ‘teeth in a day’- the predecessor to ‘All on Four’ implant replacement approach.
He first worked on an occasional basis at St Faiths as an Oral Surgeon from July 1999, increasing his commitment exponentially since- ultimately buying the practice in 2015 with Susanne, his wife, and building it up into the thriving regional multidisciplinary dental referral centre it is today.
He also spent many years in prestigious West End practice in London covering the full range of dental specialities, but these days he works exclusively at St Faiths and largely confines the treatment he provides to Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology, which he says keeps him entertained.
He first lived in East Grinstead back in 1996 during his post graduate training at the Queen Victoria Hospital and loved the area so much he moved back with his young family in 2004.
Outside of work, he pursues a passion – correction – obsession! for weird old vehicles, his collection ranging in size from a 1962 Messerschmitt KR200 ‘bubble car’ up to a 1961 Routemaster London bus. His current favourites are a very rare 1967 ‘Amphicar’ (‘a terrible car and an even worse boat’) and a very grumpy 1904 Stanley Steamer which he recently successfully campaigned in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
One of the leading dental practices in East Grinstead and West Sussex.
We are now obliged to carry out all NHS treatment on under 12’s using inhalation sedation only.
This limits the types of treatment that we may be able to carry out on NHS contract, and regrettably we cannot guarantee that we will be able to complete all of the treatment you have been referred for.
We remain compliant with National ‘IACSD’ sedation guidelines which allow us the clinical freedom to use -where necessary -alternative ‘advanced’ sedation techniques on a non- NHS (private) basis.
If it looks like treatment will not be successful under ‘basic’ sedation, the options will be to refer you onward to Community Dental Service or Hospital (where facilities allow) or back to your own dentist for the treatment to be attempted under local anasethetic, or to discuss re-referral on a private basis.
We wish to make clear that this situation is purely as a result of NHS commissioning and completely beyond our control, but assure you of our best efforts in continuing to provide high standards in NHS treatment where possible.
